Electropolishing

The process:

Parts arriving for this process are designated mainly for the medical device and food industries. First, the parts undergo electrochemical polishing, to remove a fine layer of material that may either be scratched or have different distortions caused during the manufacturing process.

Electropolishing is an electrochemical process in which we dip the parts in an acid bath. The process removes a superfluous layer, and a new passive layer is formed that inhibits corrosion (rust and weathering).

Electropolishing has many benefits for the product:

  • High resistance to weathering (corrosion) processes, due to the passive layer that envelopes the component.

  • Gives the parts a smooth, shiny surface.

  • Suitable for both large and very small parts, according to bath size.

  • The process is performed under full control.
